If Jesus Were Not God Then .......

If Jesus Were Not God, Then ...

If Jesus were not God then to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit would be blasphemy making man to be equal with God. (Matthew 28:19)

If Jesus were not God then Paul would be lying to Timothy when he wrote of God as being ascending into heaven.(1 Timothy 3:16)

If Jesus were not God then John the apostle would be lying when he called the Savior the "Word of God" in John 1:1 and then in verse 14 of that chapter he said "the word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory as of the ONLY begotten Son of God.

If Jesus were not God then the Jewish people in John 10:30-33 would be ignorant of their own scriptures when the accused Jesus saying; "we don't stone you for any works but because you BEING A MAN MAKEST THYSELF GOD."

If Jesus were not God he could not breathe on the disciples and say to them; "Receive ye the Holy Ghost." (John 20:22)

If Jesus were not God he could not have commanded the wind and the sea to be still which he did and the elements obeyed him.(Mark 4:39)

If Jesus were not God then he would have denied Thomas when Thomas touched his wounds and proclaimed; “My Lord and My God.

If Jesus were not God the demon bowing down and proclaiming him to be "the Holy One of God" would be lying or badly mistaken and when they asked him to cast them into a herd of swine and he did it that would not have happened. (Mark 1:24)

If Jesus were not God the angel telling Joseph that Mary was with child of the Holy Ghost would have been lying or in error. Further the angel told Joseph that the baby in Mary's womb would be called Emmanuel which being interpreted is "God with us" which was a fulfillment of a 760 year old prophecy made by Isaiah in Isaiah 7:14 speaking virtually the same words. A virgin giving birth to Immanuel. (Matthew 1:19-23)

If Jesus were not God then the scripture would not say that he was before all things and that all things were made by him and for him and without him nothing was made that was made.

(Colossians 1;16-17)

The central question for anyone that determines what belief system they follow is simple; "Who do you believe Jesus is?"

If you claim to be a Christian there can only be one answer to that question. Jesus is God come in human flesh, living among humans, enduring temptations just like any human would, conquering temptation, walking among men and ministering to their needs and doing some miracles along the way, being falsely accused by religious people filled with arrogance and pride, condemned by the religious people of his time and sentenced to a vicious death demanded by the Jewish leaders who incited the people against him and then resurrected from the dead to purchase salvation for all who put their faith in him.

The key to all this is "Jesus as God incarnate" or what is known in theological circles as the hypostatic union or the fusion of two natures God and man or more commonly stated as "the God/man." All who reject the deity of Christ are deemed to be something other than a Christian. In Christianity the "Godhead" is composed of three entities who are one, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

There are too many if's here to argue against and yet people debate, deny and blaspheme against Jesus Christ who is also called the only mediator between God and man and the only way to the Father and the only name under heaven given among men whereby we MUST be saved. If this isn't enough proof then belief must be the lot of all deniers, but belief that will lead to separation from God rather than drawing near to God. It will mean entering eternity without hope of forgiveness and peace that God offers and finding nothing but a fearful judgment before the throne of God on judgment day.

Apart from faith in Jesus Christ everyone would be doomed to eternal torment in a lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15) which they choose when they reject God's gracious mercy in Jesus Christ.

All who receive salvation through Christ will be in a loving and peaceful new earth spoken of in Revelation 21. The Bible says that "today is the day of salvation." We have no assurance of tomorrow and none of us knows the hour of our death or the cause of it. Today is the day to prepare for eternity. After death the offer is irreversibly lost for the vast ages of eternity.
