The issue isn't homosexuality or lesbianism or bi-sexuality or animal sex or any form of sex. It is whether or not the Bible's view on sex is the right one and whether people need to acknowledge the authority of the God of the Bible. Making it an issue of sexual behavior alone is divisive. Everything we do, say and think in this earthly life has consequences.
According to the Bible we're all sinners. There certainly isn't prejudice in that assessment. Red or yellow, black or white - we are all sinners. If the Bible is authoritative then we are all responsible for our own sins no matter what form they take, and we all will give an account to God for our sins. It's an individual thing between God and the sinner.
It's not Christians vs. homosexuals or vice-versa. Christians just believe the Bible, so the real issue is everyone believing and obeying what the Bible says about everything they think, say and do or rejecting what the Bible has to say. Everyone doesn't leave anyone out. That doesn't elevate anyone to a better status. It makes the ground level all around.
If Bible believing people are right, all unrepentant sinners who die in sin will be damned to a lake of fire forever. That is a simple statement, and doesn't need to be attacked because it happens to be exactly what the Bible teaches in Revelation 20:11-15.
If Bible believing people are right the Bible says we can be forgiven of every sin in our life if we will humble ourselves in the presence of God, admit our sin and in sorrow for sin, ask God to forgive us and the Bible says he will. If Christians are right we will assuredly know we're forgiven and have no doubt of that fact. We bring filthy sins to God and he forgives us, and in return for our filthy sins he gives us eternal life in a place where sin doesn't exist. Is forgiveness reprehensible to anyone? Is eternal punishment desirable to anyone? Those are the only two options the Bible presents to all mankind.
Forget about selecting certain things the Bible teaches are sin and focusing on that issue to the exclusion of the many other sins in our lives. According to the Bible we are to deal with all our sins, irrespective of what they are. I believe God is quite capable of showing us what is sin and what is not. After we see the sin then it is on us to do what is necessary to be free of it forever. God has offered to make that possible and help us when we fail. Nobody can continue to habitually sin without repenting and continue to call themselves a Christian.
As a Christian of over 47 years, I know, not only the forgiveness of God, but the power to live victoriously over sin in my life. I fail as everyone does, but when I do fail, all God requires is that I come to him and receive forgiveness again and again. 1 John 1:9 declares to us if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us for our sins and cleanse us from all our unrighteousness. He is always willing to forgive me, so I receive his forgiveness and keep on going. The only person who was ever sinless is Jesus. All mankind apart from him are sinners. There are not and never will be any other sinless person.
I don't see anyone as less important or valuable than me, and I certainly don't hate anyone. I just want to see all people free from sin and at peace with God. I want as many as possible to accept God's forgiveness that will free them from the eternal consequences of dying in sin. If anyone has a problem with that then not even God can do anything to change that. It's an individual thing between all of us and God. What we do with God's gracious offer of eternal life will determine how God responds to us on the day of judgment. God made a way for everyone to escape from the pangs of damnation and the lake of fire. Nobody can blame him if they deliberately choose to reject the way of escape. We only have this life to make the right decision. Once we are dead our position is irreversible. The decision must be made.
What will you do with it?
